The bushpig is one of the many challenging hunts available at Bushmen Safaris and you will be hunting one-on-one with our experienced professional hunters that will help you identify the very best trophies, ensure your safety, and maximize your bowhunting opportunities.
The bushpig is the African equivalent of the European wild boar. The bushpig also bears similarities to the feral hogs common in many areas of the US. While the bushpig tends to be somewhat smaller than both his European or North American counterparts, the bushpig shares the same nasty disposition and aggressive behavior common to most wild members of the swine family.
The bushpigs’ preferred habitat is natural forests, swamps, thick bush, reedbeds and riverine areas which are often combined with access to agricultural crops like corn (maize), vegetables, sugar cane and water.
Compared to the warthog, the bushpig tusks are somewhat smaller. His snout is also narrower, and the ears are more pointed. A bushpig stands between 26-39 inches at shoulder height, and weighs between 120-330 pounds.
The Bushpig is just one of the many species available to hunt on the Bushmen Safaris 22,000-acre ranch in South Africa. For more information, please visit www.bushmensafaris.com or contact us at 208.322.5902 or [email protected] to learn more about bowhunting in South Africa with Bushmen Safaris.
