What type of bow should I bring and what draw weight should I use?
For plains game hunting, you should bring your normal big game set up you would use for whitetail, elk or any other type deer. We have archers who use compound, re-curve, and long bow as well as crossbows. The most important aspect of your hunt will be that you are familiar with your bow and equipment as well as African Game shot placement.

What kind of blinds do you have?
We have 17 blinds on the 22,000acre ranch that consists of ground and elevated blinds. They are very spacious with room for a hunter and additional person and setup for you to shoot through vertical slots in the front of the blind. The blinds are dark inside so you are very concealed, each has an Ozonics machine and insulated for sound and temperature.

What type of shooting practice should I do?
Shooting on ground level and elevated would be best and around 25 yards as that is our typical shot distance.

When is the best time to bow hunt in South Africa?
Because we hunt 10-14 days per month, centered around the dark of the moon, the animals have very low pressure which typically creates success for our hunters in each of our months. Our winter months tend to have a bit more waterhole activity as it is drier out in the bush so coverage is gone from the trees and you are able to see game coming in earlier which gives more time opportunity to examine trophy quality.

Do I need to apply for any permits to bring my bow into South Africa?
There a few animals that require advance permits but we work with you before departing your home origin to get all that completed ahead of your arrival.

Cellular and Internet Service
We provide internet services where signal allows to be able to communicate with loved ones back home, check e-mail, etc. We suggest contacting your cellular provider to discuss options for international roaming and data plans well in advance of your departure.

Weather and Climate
Due to its location in the Southern Hemisphere, South Africa's seasons are the reverse of the seasons in the United States and other Northern Hemisphere countries - summer in the U.S. is winter in South Africa.

Immunizations, Vaccines, and Medication
South Africa is a safe country in terms of health risks as medical facilities are world class, with many capable hospitals, clinics and private practices throughout the country. Before visiting South Africa, we recommend consulting with your physician or health care provider at least 4-6 weeks prior to your departure to determine if you will require any immunizations, vaccines, or medications prior to your arrival in South Africa. While the chances of contracting malaria are extremely rare, we do recommend consulting your health care provider regarding a malaria preventative at a minimum. Additional information can be found at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website: www.cdc.gov
